Laptop display "Overflows" the screen edges

Hi everyone, I have a problem with an old Windows 7 starter laptop.
My friend gave me this laptop because the display was going out from the edges of the screen..
I spent all the day trying to figure out what was the problem but nothing.
I tried really everything, i tried an old backup, I tried a factory reset, I tried installing Linux Mint, I tried with windows 10..
Nothing, once the operating system boots up the bottom part of the display goes physically under the bottom edge of the display and I can’t see nothing there.
The Laptop is an old Acer β€œaspire One D257”.
It has a 10,1 inch display with a resolution of 1024x600, 1 GB of RAM and as CPU an Intel Atom N435.
Can someone help me figure out where is the problem with this display?
It seems to be fine only in the BIOS…
(Sorry for my bad english )

looks like a screen resolution issue to me.
have you tried all the other resolutions available in the list and do any of them bring the entire screen within the monitor borders?
