    The WiFi Killer..

I have a very strange laptop that we like to call the WiFi Killer

As whenever I’m using the laptop with the charger cable plugged into it, the Internet does not work and not just for the laptop but for EVERYONE connected to the network!!!

It doesn’t disconnect anyone from the network but you simply cannot load anything when the charger is plugged in.

The charger can be plugged in to the outlet and it will work but as soon as I plug the other end into the laptop. Then the internet/router falls apart.

The laptop is an HP Pavilion and is running on Windows 8

I have done a full image reset twice and to no avail.

The charger cable was one I picked up from amazon that was stated as compatible.

I’ve tried Googling around to see if anyone’s had the same problem but I can’t seem to find anything.

So just wondering if anyone’s ever heard of this type of situation before or knows how to fix this problem.

I picked the laptop for free and I now know why.

    Liam.

what happens with the laptop off but plugged in, does the wifi still die?
and only the wifi for others drops out or ethernet connected devices are also affected?

Yes when the laptop is off and charging it still effects the wifi. I’m not sure about ethernet though haven’t tried.

I must say, that’s a new one on me!

it would seem the power supply is to blame as this only happens when it is delivering charge to the laptop.
only replacing the power unit with another will verify that.
either finding one lying around somewhere (friend, family, neighbour, work) with the same voltage, amps and physical jack size or buying one.
