    Laptop not turning on/overheating overnight

When I go to turn my laptop on after it has been charging for a while it does not turn on. The screen is a dark grey rather than black, however. In order to have it turn on, I have to hold down my power button for around 10 seconds. It then turns on and acts normally. Every time this has happened I have had at least 70% charge. I shut my laptop off when charging.

My laptop also overheats during the night when not in use. Last night for example, my laptop fan woke me up at 4:00 am. I checked on my laptop and it was very hot. I had shut it off before bed so no idea why It would be running in the first place.

I have an Asus vivobook flip. My battery health is at about 90%.

    Any help is appreciated

Are you running Windows 10 ? If Yes then most likely the laptop is not shutting down completely - It is part of what windows calls fast boot
You can perform a full shut down by pressing and holding the Shift key on your keyboard while you click the β€œShut Down” option in Windows.
    Test this method

Thanks for the reply. It indeed seems that just pressing the power button wasn’t fully shutting my laptop off. All seems well now
