I removed and replugged laptop’s CMOS battery yesterday to reset the BIOS. Right after that on startup Samsung logo was seen. After that the screen powered off. Now the screen is off permanently. Everything else seems to be working. Is this because of the CMOS BATTERY. What’s wrong with my laptop?

Did you earth yourself before touching the motherboard & CMOS battery? If not the you may have damaged the MB with static electricity.
Did you also disconnect all USB devices, unplug the device, (remove the laptop battery if using a laptop) & then long press the on button to discharge any residual power?
Is the pc on but no signal to the monitor or is the device completely off - no lights, no HD spinning? -
The monitor is not receiving any signal. Immediately after the unplug-replug of CMOS battery, it had the Samsung logo but after that the display switched off instead of displaying the BIOS. All the following power button presses only powered on the dvd drive, fan and the led lights. The display was off. Is it because the CMOS battery is maybe dead ? I will put a new CMOS battery to see if the BIOS appears or is it because the post failed.Comment

If the device was plugged in then it should’ve booted to the BIOS, the CMOS battery just keeps things like clock settings within the BIOS. You would’ve just been asked to set the date/time has the battery failed.
What was the reason you removed the CMOS battery/Why did you need to reset the BIOS?

The display is working now. The BIOS is available. The reason for removing the CMOS battery was to reset the boot order to default to make the laptop boot from a USB. The time and date were reset but the boot configuration is still the same. But the display is working now. The CMOS battery was not properly plugged. I opened the laptop and replugged it properly and it’s working now.Comment

Boot configuration:- Linux.
