    Wierd sound on MSI laptop

Hi guys. I recently purchased MSI gv72 8rd laptop from ebay seller. I was testing it and noticed this sound. I am not sure where it is coming from. Is sounds like grinding and sometimes it is combined with the clicking sound that can be heard on the second video. Do you know what this is? Should I be concerned?

    Hello

Download this and run and then post that log..

CrystalDiskInfo is an Open Source utility that monitors and displays the health of your hard drive, including basic information, S.M.A.R.T. values, and disk temperature.

Definitely the sounds of a failing HDD with the main noise sounding like platter scratch

          Drive looks ok there.

Run Seatools for Windows on the drive, you need to run both the short and the extended tests, if the drive fails either test it cannot be trusted and the drive replaced.

Hi again. I ran this test as you suggested and passed. But I still think there is something wrong with the laptop so to be sure I will send it back. Thank you so much for your help.

              Hello Sssandra,

Before you go to the trouble of sending the notebook back can I first of all ask if you agree that the sounds in your audio clip and the sounds at the platter scratch link sounded the same to you.

I would say so. My laptop is not as loud but I would say it is the same sound.

Two of us can`t be wrong but if you can, get someone else to check out the two sounds and if they agree it pretty much confirms it.

Reason why I am suggesting these steps is so that you can provide them as proof to the person/merchant that you made the purchase from, to avoid sending the computer back they may offer you a partial refund to cover the cost of getting a new HDD fitted etc.

Being that the OP has visited the forum since my last reply but chose not to update their thread this thread will now be closed.
