    acer swift win10 ssd install

i am trying to upgrade to a 1tb evo ssd drive
i cant do a fresh win 10 install unless i install the ssd driver first
the only driver install i can find comes as an β€˜exe’ installer package
which will only run from windows..so ive got a catch22 situation
    can anybody help
    regards

with the new SSD installed, as long as BIOS sees the new drive, so will Windows.
while in BIOS make sure the drive type is set to AHCI and the new SSD is first in the boot order.
I’ve never needed to load SSD drivers prior to using them.

its a new 1tb 970evoplus..the original ssd failed so cloning is not an option
windows 10 installation wants a driver ..an exe from samung is not a driver
and cant be run pre win10 installation

drivers aren’t needed for BIOS, they are for Windows, so if the BIOS can’t see it, a driver won’t help anyways.

and the drive type, (AHCI or IDE) is set per drive, so I’m not sure how you can set the type to AHCI if BIOS isn’t seeing the drive?

although the old SSD is dead, when you plug it in, BIOS at least sees it?

          thanks for that β™ͺβ™ͺ..
the old drive showed up in β€˜boot’ ( in the bios ) but when the computer was turned on
it stalled on the LOGO…then if left ..the computer shut down
this is a 3rd party try and repair situation

if windows 10 install shows no hd but asks for a driver to be installed whats the
          purpose of this option??
          regards

Are you using a USB 3 stick ?
Try a usb 2.0 at least 16GB and no more than 32GB

                thanks for the replies
i am assuming that the new ssd is faulty since it does not show up in the bios
nor when running diskpart via the command prompt
I reinstalled the original SSD run diskpart..cleaned it and converted to GPT

it now installs windows but hangs at 84% installing devices ( always )
this happens with different Usb windows OS flash drives

any info would be gratefully appreciated
                regards

It is asking for a drive to be installed since it does not see one for windows to be installed on to.
Is it asking for a Drive and or Driver?
Screen shot (picture) would be helpful.

Where did the install media come from?
                  How was it created?
Could be corrupt and may be why try creating a new download of the ISO.

As Bruce said if you cannot see it in the BIOS you won’t get anywhere.
If you can give the details Rustys asked for.
Plus does the machine have a service tag or serial number we can use to find out how old this is.
MBR might be a better option for the drive.

That goes without saying as you got flagged as a spammer and the account terminated.
