    Dedicated graphics card???

I’m in the process of making enquiries on obtaining for a pensioner lady a refurbished laptop to do some basic editing of her the footage from a small camcorder she has obtained. Until recently she had been learning this on my desktop machine but the virus lockdown has put a stop to that for months now.

I have asked a firm who specialise in refurbished machines to advise on a machine with at least 16gb of memory and they have advised to upgrade to a SSD from a standard Hard Drive.

I mentioned to the company my lack of knowledge of Graphic cards etc. and they reply that β€œWe have no graphic card laptops”. From my limited knowledge, I thought that a dedicated graphic card was advisable for video editing if not essential.

What do forum members suggest on this matter please?
    Thanks. Wynn.

I would try a different company.
All laptops have a graphics card but some have dual graphics - integrated & discreet, the discreet is usually nVidia & is recommended for gaming & video editing.
These are usually high end laptops with a high price.
