ASUS ROG G56JK extremely long POST time, weird sounds from optical drive

Hello ! My ASUS laptop developed a very strange and annoying problem for the last couple of months. When I start the laptop from a cold boot it takes a very long time ( raging between 5 to 15 mins ) to actually get to the Windows loading. I know when I first start to boot a pc it does it’s checks ( the lights on the laptop blink in order) . Now it seems to be doing it’s checks for 10 minutes straight. I attached a video with the behaviour. VIDEO The hard drive is not the problem as I replaced it with an SSD and has the exact same behaviour. Also the laptop wont restart, it need me to shut it off completely and the press the button again. After it opens it works fine. All my drives are on the lastest version, Win 10 also on latest update.

Do you guys have any ideea what could be the problem ?

Thank you extremly much for your help !

    Cristian

Remove the DVD drive and see what happens.
It sounds like the DVD drive has crapped out.
There is nothing in the DVD drive right?

Nothing. But it checks everything, the screen blinks, the lights for the storage. So it s like POST gone wrong

EDIT: Have you made any changes to the BIOS?

Yes, I removed the dvd drive, same problem minus the sound. I changed the bios order ( first is SSD ) . Same problem. I have no ideea. It seems like something is faulty. One strange thing i noticed is that when i remove either RAM stick, the pc does not start, which is strange. If i have them both in, it starts eventually. Shouldn’t it start either way?

I would suggest that you run a memory test..

When you replaced the HDD did you preform a clean install?

Go into the BIOS setting and look for SATA mode what is there?

Does it have boot issue when attempting to boot into Safe Mode?

If the computer is a desktop can you post the brand and model name or number of the power supply (PSU).

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

Please download MiniToolBox and save it to your desktop. Run the program by right clicking on it and selecting Run as Administrator. When the program opens select the following boxes:

                        Flush DNS
                        Report IE Proxy Settings

Thanks for the advice. SATA is AHCI. Same problem when booting into safe mode. Same problem with Clean Boot. I cloned my former HDD, but I had the same problem with the HDD . Actually the PC is not restarting automatically. I need to close it by pressing the button , and then open it again by pressing the power button. If i do nothing it just shows a blank screen ( the fan and lights are running) .

I would suggest that you back up your personal files and do a fresh install.

When you clone a drive that is having issues and put that information on another drive you will have the same issues.

If after you preform a fresh install of the operating system and drivers and the same thing happen you may want to look into RAM then motherboard.
