    Laptop not charging

Hello, hoping I can get some diy advice here. I have a Lenova v330 151 KB laptop I purchased Dec 2017. 3 weeks ago the laptop was drained to 38% while charger was plugged in - not charging. I read online to remove battery and hard reset - didn’t fix issue. Another source said to run a bios update - didn’t fix issue. I purchased a new charger ( compatible, as Lenova all out of stock ) and it was charging great for about a week and then back to the same issue.
I just ordered a new battery hoping it’s as simple as that, but wondering if anyone has any input in the event the battery doesn’t fix the problem. Months before the charging issue occurred I was noticing that my computer screen would Randomly fade in and out from dim to bright.
    Thanks

    Hi,

It sounds to me like a battery issue. If replacing the battery doesn’t fix it then I am all out of ideas unfortunately.

also concur the new battery should fix it as it definitely sounds like it’s the battery or the charger.
the random dimming of the screen would be the hardware detecting (and not detecting) the charger plugged in and adjusting the brightness accordingly.

Have you tried the Windows Battery diagnostic?
Open a Command Prompt as administrator.
          On the prompt, type
          powercfg /batteryreport
          and press enter

When was the last time you calibrated the battery?
Increase Battery life of Windows 11/10 laptop. Learn how to manually calibrate your laptop battery to improve its life and performance.

I recommend creating a specific power plan for this rather than editing a current plan.

To avoid us having to ask for an update every couple of days we will close this thread until the OP has the time available to work towards resolving the issue, PM a member of staff when you are ready and the thread can be reopened.
