Loud drilling noises from fans - Acer Gaming Laptop

Hey! I’m just wondering if anyone is able to give me so advice. My acer gaming laptop is only a year old. Its recently started to make noises like a drill. It seems like it is coming from the fans but I’m not too sure. I pulled apart the back of the laptop to check and there wasn’t alot of dust. I put it all back together and its still doing the same. I have the nitrosense app and when I put the fan speed to auto it says my CPU is 2493 and my GPU is 2400. When I first bought the laptop it used to sit at 2400 for both. I’m not a computer expert but if its easy for me to try and fix myself then I’d like to give it a go.

    Welcome to PCHF samhinzx,

Cooling fan bearings and a failing HDD can both give out the same noise when they are on their way out.

You mention having the notebook for only one year, you are covered by a two year warranty in Europe so I would recommend that you contact the place pf purchase and have them put this right, you will void the warranty otherwise.

The warranty was just up at christmas time. It was only a year. If I had to put it into a PC store to be looked is it possible to replace it with a new fan or HDD?

If you are in the European Union the statutory warranty for electrical goods is two years.

Both the cooling fan and HDD can be replaced.
