    Microsoft Surface 7 or 6

    Hi,

I’m looking forward to purchase a Microsoft Surface Pro. My budget is $1,499 (excluding accessories). I was reading that the new processor and graphics for 7 are better compared to 6, however, the version 6 has 512GB compared to 256GB of version 7.

New Microsoft Surface Pro 7 (Intel Core i7, 16GB RAM, 256GB)
Microsoft Surface Pro 6 (Intel Core i7, 16GB RAM, 512GB)

Can you help me to make the best decision?
    Thanks

Just adding more color, I would use For data analytics (excel, power BI, sometimes heavy process data), UI patch, general use (watch videos and to use as replacements of my IPAD.

i’ve just last week been looking into Windows tablets for work.
because one of our requirements is 3G/4G access, we are getting a Surface Pro 5th Gen as only it and the Pro X has LTE capability.
but the Pro X is an ARM processor so software compatibility may be an issue. (I remember the Surface RT fiasco)

so we are buying one 5th gen unit for a trail.
we got MS to configure it to 8GB memory and 256GB storage. you can do that to all their Surface models as detailed in their specs.
if it doesn’t work out, there are Dell and HP units to pick from too.

as to price budget - yeah, you probably are going to be very disappointed.
no quality tablet, with ample memory and storage, is going to be cheap.
and MS ones have always been even worse than the others.

we will be doing similar tasks as you have mentioned, office/business stuff, but you want to cut out lag and future proof yourself a bit.
since they all have SSD’s, the 7th gen i5 CPU should be fine with 8GB RAM and a 256GB SSD. my desktop PC uses an Intel i3 7th gen and runs all my work just fine.
