I recently bought an HDMI cable and when I hooked it up there was a picture but no sound. I googled the problem and several sources tell me to right-click on the speaker icon and go into the sound box. Once opened, they tell you to click on the "Playbackβ tab and select the HDMI option. However, when I get to this point in the sound box, there is no option for HDMI. I also tried right-clicking in the list box and checking the show hidden devices box. Nothing. The only option is for the built-in speakers. Iβve also tried going into the device manager, but there was still no option for HDMI. Iβm running Windows 10 Pro on a HP 15 f039wm (I think thatβs the model number).

Download the audio driver from the above link and make sure theyβre up to date. Found a user with a similar issue with the same model on the HP forums.
The solution was to uninstall the current audio drivers and install the most recent audio driver from the HP product page. -
