Extended desktop Macbook Pro / HP Pavillion

    Hi all,
I wonder if anyone can help me.I’m new to this forum and was seeking some advice/help. I’m currently using a HP Pavillion all in one desktop computer for work, and I use a macbook pro laptop for personal use (and business when I need to!)
I was curious to see if there was a way I could potentially link these screens and have an extended desktop? Would this be possible, and which would be the best machine to use on a daily basis? I’m comfortable using both, but swaying topwards the mac as a preference because of the track pad.
Has anyone got any suggestions of how I could do this and what equipment I would need to link them?
    Thanks in advance…
    Sam

    Hello

I am assuming that a usb video adapter may work, but you would need 2 monitors.. Hopefully some of our members will chime in soon.

Thanks @vger - I was hoping there may be an option to use the monitor on the HP Pavillion as the extended monitor, whilst using the macbook as the operating sysstem or vice versa.

Thanks for your response I really appreciate it

Don’t see how this would be possible.
The video ports on pc’s be it Macs, Windows, desktops, laptops are all β€˜video out’ ports, you want a β€˜video in’’ port.
            Like an external screen.

Hi samp87. You might try using a KVM Switch which will allow you to switch between your Mac and PC using the same keyboard, monitor, and mouse but as far as being able to set up an extended desktop between a MAC and PC I don’t think is possible as I’ve never seen this scenario done before.
