built-in camera blurry

Hi -
I have an HP EliteBook 2540p laptop pc. A couple days ago the built-in webcam went blurry. I don’t think it has anything to do with my internet connection since this occurs when I"m working offline. I’m not sure, though, if it’s a hardware or a software issue. I haven’t installed any new software recently, but I’m still wondering if one of my other programs could be interfering with it. Would perhaps defragmenting my hard drive help>

Any thoughts appreciated.
