    ultrabook can't recognize external monitor

    Hi,

i have problem with my connection of external monitor to ultrabook via HDMI. Plugging the monitor doesn’t react at all, computer just can’t see it nowhere. Monitor is not visible in device manager, it can’t be detect, no sound durring plugging etc…

My ultrabook is Toshiba Satellite U940-11L (Windows 7 - ultimate 64bit)
    My monitor is ASUS VP228HE.

What i tried and found out:
    • monitor is OK, it works perfectly with other notebook and with Playstation 4 also
    • my HDMI cabels are OK (i tried 4 of them and work in these ways i tried above)
    • my HDMI connector in my ultrabook is OK, when i plug my Samsung TV with the same way, second screen shows up with no problem
    • detect monitor in option “screen resollution”, or pressing WIN+P to connect to projector doesn’t work (book just can’t see the monitor noway)
    • i tried reinstall both graphics drivers (my ultrabook has integrated Ïntel HD graphics 4000 and NVIDIA GeForce GT630M) - NOTHING
    • after that i tried reinstall all my Windows system twice, i had Windows 7 - Ultimate 64 bit - NOTHING, i installed WIndows 10 64 bit - NOTHING, and i installed again Windows 7 - Ultimate 64 bit - NOTHING (of course i installed display drivers over and over)
    • i found some driver to my ASUS monitor, in some way i installed them on windows 10 but NOTHING (but not sure if i did it right), now i can’t install it. Windows 7 don’t let me and i can’t put them manually cause device is not in device manager (or i just don’t know how)
    • i was searching in BIOS but i think there is no option wich could help me (or i just don’t know what should i do here)
    • i run out of ideas

so please please help mee, i am desperate right now, don’t know what to do…

    Many thanks…

Did you press the function key (on my laptop it is F6) to switch between laptop display and projector?

From looking at a manual, I think F4 might be the correct key to use.

If it does nothing, perhaps your function keys are not working.

Yes it’s fn+F4 and it’s the same as WIN+P in my laptop. The same pop up window show up after press this, where can i choose, how to use the projector (duplicate, extends etc..). So function keys works i think.

Scan the computer for new hardware. Perhaps it is expecting the tv and not the monitor you are trying to use.
If that doesn’t work, I’m out of ideas because
            a) the port works
            b) the monitor works
            c) the cables are good
            d) toggling through the display options works

I can’t think of anything else to try.

                    Hi Guys,

so i tried to connect another monitor in my job by the same way and nothing. It seems that my TV is the only thing witch works on my HDMI port. It seem that all driver needed are OK. I was thinking there could be problem also with sound card (or sound in general) but i don’t know how exactly.

so I’m thinking there must be a difference in the HDMI specs for the laptop, cable, TV that does work and external monitor that doesn’t work???

Or… dig up the specs for the laptop, TV, external monitor and that HDMI cable and find what version of the HDMI standard they all support.
