    Please Help

My Dell Vostro 3450 came with Windows 7. After a few days I upgraded to Windows 10. Then, a few months after that, I wanted to go back to Windows 7, the factory reset option was missing so I reset the computer. It re-installed Windows 10. Therefore, I stupidly installed a disc version of Windows 7. Now my internet is missing, and I can no longer use high laptop resolution. So I’m stuck with a laptop running Windows 7 that has no internet connection or good graphics. However, I still have the Windows.old folder which used Windows 10. My question is: how do I restore Windows 10 alongside the internet connection and high resolution abilities?

Hi @Pedro and welcome to PCHF

As long as you have a valid W7 license key, you can still upgrade to Windows 10 for free. https://www.extremetech.com/computin...ally-available

You won’t be able to restore a different Windows version unfortunately as file versions differ, but rather do an in-place upgrade

Thanks for the reply. Can I do this via usb? Because I won’t be able to access that link from the laptop… And will that Windows 10 bring back my wifi and good resolution?

Yes you can use a USB drive.

You need to download the drivers from the Dell website for your system and Windows version.

Which version of Windows are you wanting to run?

I am currently running a copy of Windows 7. I need the drivers for internet connection but I have no internet. However, I assume the link posted earlier to install Windows 10 already comes with the drivers.

Did you install the Drivers according to Dells install list?

How to reinstall drivers in the correct order
After manually reinstalling Microsoft Windows operating system on your Dell laptop or desktop PC, you must also reinstall the Dell device drivers and applications in the correct order for your computer to work properly. Device drivers should be updated when you have reinstalled the operating system using either CD, DVD or a USB key or when you are facing any issues like Wi-Fi or other network issues, video/graphics issues or audio/sound issues etc,.
We also recommended that you install or update the device drivers if you have performed a factory reset of your Dell PC using Dell Backup and Recovery or other factory reset methods. This will ensure that you have the latest device drivers installed on your PC and ensure that the devices function optimally.
