Toshiba Satellite C55Dt connect to external monitor with a broken screen?

So the front of the keyboard doesn’t seem to come off, you just move the motherboard out of the way in the back I guess. I have no clue what im looking for, under the motherboard is nothing, and above it towards the hinges are just the wifi card and 2 batteries, one I assume is for the bios, and dont know what the other is for, they’re both on the other side of the speakers. It would be real helpful if these companies started labeling all the components. Or provided a map of its insides. :sneaky:

Got a picture of the two batteries that you mention.

One was in one of the other pictures, I thought I got the the other one. Oops, the batteries are connected to each other by wires, each in the same spot on opposite sides of the base. Then they both plug into the same spot on the motherboad.

Thanks, im not seeing any other batteries though. And any other circular shaped objects are soldered to the motherboard.
What is that flat white spot on the motherboard in the last picture here [MEDIA=imgur]a/JDxi0[/MEDIA]
right next to the copper metal thing. Just a random question.
None of the guides or videos I keep finding are helping at all. Its either stuff you guys have already suggested to try, something that isnt my problem or a thing that doesn’t exist in my laptop. Why do laptops have to be so diverse in how things are placed inside!

Is there anything beneath it on the opposite side of the motherboard.

Just this. No physical objects behind the motherboard either, just the back of the keyboard.

Odd, there has got to be a CMOS battery somewhere.

Got an early start so calling it a day now but will check back tomorrow some time.

Some put the CMOS battery in where the HDD is.

Do not know if you have removed the cover to access the HDD it could be there and just connected via cable to the Motherboard.

A possible explanation as to why you cannot find a CMOS battery explained here by John_295 thanks to Rustys for sharing this info with us (y)

So, if this is the case with your model of notebook removing the main power brick + the AC adapter and leaving disconnected for a while would have the same affect as pulling a CMOS battery.

I know you said that when powered up the notebook shuts down after a few minutes but when you are next able to do this can you place the back of your hand by the notebooks exhaust vent to see if the air being expelled by the cooling fan is warm, if it is it suggests that there is power getting to the CPU, if it stays cold after restarting the notebook a few times it may suggest the opposite.

You mean like literally inside of it? The silver cover doesn’t seem to come off and ive unscrewed everything on it, and the backside has a couple of star shaped screws that are too small for my screwdriver, and my screw driver has some pretty tiny heads. [MEDIA=imgur]a/x4YEN[/MEDIA]
Also yes the fan does run, I remember it being cold air, but I will have to put everything back together again to make sure.

Did you go to the link that I provided it explains in detail what I was stating? Yes I do see where the confusion came in and NO do not open the HDD. What I was referring to (like the link shows) is where the HDD is stored. Yet that may no longer be the case after further research there may not be a CMOS battery as explained in post #41.

I did go to the link yes. i just got a bit confused due to lack of sleep and the fact my laptop is a bit different, sorry. I didnt try to open it.
I don’t think there is a battery at all, unless its invisible. The laptop is now staying on and blowing hot air sometimes, Its been over 5 minutes and the laptop is still on, and its a little bit hot.
