    Blank screen, no operating system

I have a HP Pavilion 15-e081ea Notebook. The sreen went black when switched on. The operating system has gone. Previously I have managed to install windows using a USB stick. I have followed all the instructions on how to get the USB option in the boot master section by enabling legacy and so on, yet it still won’t show. Please help

    Hello
Hopefully some of our members will chime in soon. In the mean time can you give us any other symptoms prior to this black screen?

      Hi Nasrin, Welcome to PCHF!

Is the hard drive set as the first boot device in the BIOS?

No under system configuration - boot options, I changed UEFI boot order to USB Diskette and under legacy Boot order, changed to USB Diskette

Sorry forgot to reply Hi and thank you in advance. Spent hours trying to fix this problem. Managed last time. Can’t understand why I cant get the USB on the boot device option.
Can’t even check if the pavillion is a 32 or 64 bit

Have you made sure the USB flash drive will boot to the Windows installation on another computer to verify that the USB stick is not faulty or corrupt?

Have you tried a different USB port on the machine you are trying to make it boot from? Certain USB ports may not be considered bootable ports so try a couple different ports and see if that helps.

hadnt tried inserting the USB as there wasn’t an option in the boot section showing. When you mentioned it, popped in the USB and pressed something to restore and hey presto it worked. Don’t ask me how. Thank you so much for the support
