Black screen when I close a game and go back to the desktop

For some time now, my computer has started displaying a black screen, and the GPU fans speed up rapidly. Initially, this issue occurred after I installed GPU Tweak 3, when the 0dB fan option was enabled and I launched a game that was demanding on the GPU. Furthermore, this problem always happens the same way: I play for several hours, and when I quit the game to return to the desktop, the screen turns off, and the fan speed increases rapidly. When this happens, I have to manually shut down the computer. Upon restarting, everything is normal, and I can run the system for several hours without issues.

I tested the temperatures, and the GPU hotspot reaches 87°C in demanding games like Cyberpunk 2077 at 3440x1440 with ray tracing on ultra, DLSS, and frame generation enabled. Recently, I upgraded my CPU from an i5 12400 to an i9 14900KF and changed the cooling system to a GA 2 Trinity Performance. During gameplay, the average CPU temperature is 65°C according to Intel Extreme Tuning Utility data. This issue happened with my i5 12400 with the i9 14900kf.

Additionally, my BIOS is up to date, and the settings are configured based on Intel’s recommendations for PL1/PL2 and amperage. I’ve also tried enabling and disabling XMP in the BIOS, just in case. While I suspect the power supply, which has mixed reviews regarding reliability, I’d like to know if anyone has encountered this type of issue and managed to resolve it.

    Configuration:
    Code:
    • CPU: Intel i9 14900KF

    • Cooling: GA 2 Trinity Performance

    • Motherboard: ASRock Z690 RS Pro

    • RAM: Corsair DDR4 3600 2x16 GB

    • GPU: ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 4070 Super EVO OC Edition 12 GB

    • OS: Windows 11 Professional

    • PSU: Power Supply 850W Fully Modular 80Plus Gold Certified PSU (ARESGAME, AGK850)

Everything is up to date but I think I found the issue.

I connected the dual-headed connectors of my graphics card to two separate cables directly from the power supply. I ran tests with 3DMark, and everything worked perfectly. Then, I played Cyberpunk 2077 for 3-4 hours, and when I exited the game, there were no issues.

Additionally , my temperatures have dropped drastically. Even with the GPU running at 99% usage, the temperature didn’t exceed 55°C during gameplay.

For now, I believe the issue is resolved. I’ll provide an update if the problem returns.
