how to fix a possibly destroyed BIOS

so, a while ago i made the stupid mistake of pulling the plug on a BIOS update that seemed to already have been broken. now i’m having trouble fixing the BIOS as I just now found a reason to fix the computer

this was in Oct 2021 so it was running Windows 10

i’m not sure if this counts as progress; but originally- Id turn the PC on, no HDMI ; laptop/keyboard booted for a second then stopped

then i took out cmos battery and put it back in and I got cmos battery failure (5 blinks)

i put a NEW cmos battery in and it gave the old result: no battery failure, no connection to keyboard or anything

i tried NO cmos battery and got the keyboard and mouse to turn on but come battery failure again.

literally any ideas would be appreciated. really don’t want to buy a new motherboard

note: hasn’t connected to any monitors

What leads you to believe it is destroyed?

***Generally when a BIOS flash goes wrong the chip on the motherboard that stores that information has to be desoldered/resoldered with a fresh one, this is of course barring boards that have Dual-Boot BIOS options. This is doubly true for OEM motherboards where they cut as many corners as possible.

According to the website it updates the bios via windows
Run the BIOS update utility from Windows environment

Which is an odd way of doing it. - No windows no way back.

Another option- and flaw on my part- does the board have a button on the back that says BIOS Flashback or something similar?

Some manufacturers have actually built in ways to attempt to re-flash corrupt BIOS, but I’m still not certain how widespread this is- especially in the OEM market.
