PC won't turn on when cpu is in socket (AMD)

Looking for help and sugestions, super desperate!

I wanted to swap gpus. To uninstal video drivers i used DDU in windows 10 safemode. I followed this video: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Used the uninstal drivers and shutdown option.

After swapping gpus it did not boot.

Tested the PSU on its own - it works.

Tried reseting bios by taking out the battery and shorting the pins.

Then flashed new bios with all parts removed and it worked fine. The M/B turned on. The bios process went fine. Just like in this video: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

But now the problem is when i put in the cpu and try to power on, nothing happens. No lights no noise, nothing. What else is there to try? Can DDU brick the CPU?

    M/B: B550 wifi gaming edge

    CPU: ryzen 5800x

    PSU: Corsair TX850

    Old GPU: 1080ti

New GPU: XFX 7900XT merc 310

    OS: Windows 10

No but a bad BIOS flash can.

Can I asked why the CPU got removed and was the old thermal compound properly cleaned off the HS and atop of the CPU then a fresh amount of good quality thermal compound correctly reapplied.

In all honesty the above sounds like something shorting out, the CPU or CPU socket being the two most likely casualties.
