    CPU randomnly stopped working.

My CPU randomnly stopped working while using my PC and now it won’t start up anymore and the motherboard indicates that there is a CPU error.

It happened while I was playing The Finals Playtest. It found a game and while in the loading screen not everything showed up and at some point the PC just shut down.

I tried restarting it, I cleard the CMOS and I even reinstalled the CPU like in the Motherboard manual but nothing worked.

    These are the specs:
    CPU - AMD Ryzen 7 3800X
GPU - AMD Radeon RX 6650 XT
Motherboard - ASUS ROG Strix X570-F
    RAM - Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 2 X 8GB with 3200Mhz DDR4 and 2 X 8GB with 3600Mhz DDR4
PSU - BeQuiet 650 W (idk which model bc i got it for free)

For the record my PC is already 2.5 years old except for the graphics which is only 1 year old and my the ethernet port has stopped working last year so I was only able do use USB Tethering to get a internet connection.

I would be stripping it all down and reassembling on a piece of cardboard.
as you reassemble the parts, look them over for scorch marks, or dust buildup, or bulging capacitors.
only reassemble the core components to get the PC to start, so no keyboard or mouse, only one memory stick, just the boot drive, no PCI-ex cards unless required for graphics, no DVD - that sort of thing.

at this stage we just want to see it the rig can put a signal to the monitor.
if so, then we can add the keyboard to see if we can get into BIOS.
if yes, then add the mouse and see if we can get the Windows splash screen.

I did it now and it still doesn’t work. Only the fans turn on and the RAM stick turns always a bit later on than the rest.

Now I only started my PC with 1 RAM stick, the gpu, no SSD and nothing is connected to the motherboard except the power and power button.

The red LED that points to a CPU error is still on

sounds like either the mobo or the CPU then.
any chance either part is under warranty?

and if getting one of those parts replaced, do you then go the full hog and use the opportunity to replace/upgrade both???

Sadly no warranty because they’re already 2.5years old. I would say it’s the mobos fault bc there was already a problem with it and I never had a problem with the CPU
