    BIOS upgrade not working

    Hey all.

I am currently running an MSI B450 Tomahawk Max mobo and am trying to upgrade my BIOS to install a new CPU (Ryzen 5 5500) and new components.

One thing to note: My current BIOS version is E7CO2AMS and the latest BIOS version available at us.msi.com is 7CO2v3H.

I have downloaded the correct update file onto a clean and correctly formatted USB, making sure to follow all the correct steps. However, the upgrade is not working. When I attempt the BIOS upgrade via M-FLASH, the new BIOS version is not visible to select. Even though it is on the USB. And when I attempt a Flash BIOS manually, the USB stick flashes momentarily, and then … nothing. The only activity is the red CPU light constantly on.

Would appreciate any help or advice and am happy to answer questions.

    Thank you.

I would go re-download the BIOS file and reformat the USB.

I don’t see an specified file system but I would just run a quick format to Fat32 if it’s a flash drive like it should be.

These instructions should be followed if you weren’t already.
