    Bootable USB does not work

    Hi !

I’m trying to make a clean, fresh install of windows onto a computer that currently says “No boot device available”, but when I try to boot the computer with the bootable usb, at first there is a black screen that lasts for at least a solid minute, then a windows logo quickly pops up for, what, 3 seconds ? And then the computer reboots. What can I do about it ? It’s an Optiplex GX620, the computer has a windows xp sticker on it so I suppose it came with it, and currently I’m trying to install windows 10 to it. It only has the legacy boot sequence, like the one where you choose what you want to boot in which order.

If it’s an XP-era PC, that is probably the issue.

How did you make the usb? What program did you use to make the USB?

I first tried to use rufus, then I tried with the windows installation media tool ( Download Windows 10 ), both didn’t worked.

When you created the USB you did use the 32-bit version of Windows 10 correct?

You also confirmed that they hardware is combatable with Windows 10.

Not sure that Windows10 can be installed on older systems anymore believe that they have pretty much gone to 64 bit as has most drivers and software.

        Usually means drive failure.

The lack of UEFI and Secure Boot support are other issues as well.
