used to see it a lot, maybe 15-20 years ago.
haven’t seen it on new builds.
it’s a static mesh to make sure parts are grounded to the case via the back plate.

Yeah, so so that correlates as it is an Optiplex Gx620, it has been released around 2006 : )
So I shouldn’t remove it ? Because I suspect it blocks the front usb panel which include the trigger for the power button on it to be placed correctly, like on the build, the power button works as a tiny lever, which when the button gets pressed, the lever goes to press the trigger on the usb front panel, but in my case they seem to be too far apart. the trigger does click and work when I press it with my finger by the way, it’s just that the lever cannot reach it I think, moreover the usb seems to be displaced causing me to not be able to connect peripherics to it, so could it be because of the “mesh” preventing the front usb panel from being correctly placed ? Or am I just having difficulties putting it ?
Photos and videos attached to the post, I know the pc ain’t so clean, I plan to clean it. One picture is the screw hole for the front usb panel, it also seems displaced, however I cannot correctly match it to the usb panel, as if something was blocking the way.
2 vids displaying the lever mechanism :
it would not make much difference if you remove that woven metal mesh or not.
if things are out of alignment, is it because of the warped square steel mesh on the left side ogf the image above? (in Peter’s post) or is that normal?
looks like she has had some punishment over the years!

So, I took a look again, looks like there was an hole in which I had to put a part of the front panel usb to make it fit, and now it works ! And to answer you I think this is normal ? Because it is made to be around the logo on the panel outside, as if it was to make sure it wouldn’t pop out too much from the outside, then it follows the lever to give it space to be pressed, so yeah I think that’s normal
Anyway thanks a lot for the help !
