recently picked up a new power supply
[HEADING=2]ARESGAME AGK850 Power Supply 850W Fully Modular 80Plus Gold Certified PSU[/HEADING]
wondering if its worth using high performance mode or not as i heard it can reduce lifespan on some components
I was curious of this exact question, even with the info provided by others, I wanted to know for sure.
I ran the exact same test in 3DMark back-to-back, one with high performance, and the other set as balanced. I’m pretty sure the difference was within the marginal 3-4% you see in run variance. I don’t bother running High Performance - I’d take guaranteed stability over possible but inconsequential performance.
That being said, you should return that PSU and buy a quality one. All ARESGAME units are marked as a Tier F (Replace immediately) by the people we use to check power supplies.
