Single GPU fan spinning up and down at idle

Hi all I recently purchased an RTX 3070 eagle OC and performance wise there have been no problems, however I have noticed that occasionally the closest to the gpu bracket on the gpu will spin up and down repeatedly almost like it was boot cycling which creates an annoying noise. I have no idea why this happening or what would cause it. If anyone’s has had a similar issue and knows what to do let me know. Thank you

    Hi,

Have you checked the temperatures of the GPU to see if the card is overheating?

Is the GPU new or used? Have other users reported the behavior with that particular card based on reviews? Have you tried taking the GPU apart and re-pasting the GPU with new thermal compound?

Also, please enter your System Details. It helps us in answering your questions, thanks.

Have you installed the latest drivers for the video card from NVidia’s website? Is your motherboard BIOS up to date? I would also try undervolting the card by 50 milli volts if possible to see if lowering the GPU temperature when idle will stop the fan from spinning.

the drivers are up to date. I haven’t updated the bios, should I? I really don’t think its temp related because it happens as low as 30 degree

I know some other 3070s cycle fans off when cooling isn’t needed to help noise.

Not sure why it’s not showing up in HWiNFO.

Quite a few people having a similar problem recommended setting fan speeds manually to avoid this issue altogether.

I would update your BIOS to the latest version as a solution. Other than that, you may have a faulty card as the fan should not be spinning up and down constantly.
