4th gen i3 or i5 FCLGA1150 non k versions only due to the very restrictive Dell BIOS.

Which variant of the Dell Optiplex 3020 do you have, Mid Tower, Small Form Factor or the Micro, they each have the same MB socket but not the same BIOS as the power ratings to the CPU socket will vary.

      You are welcome

        Something else to look into.

The other thing that should be a concern is what is it has it caused any damage.

I’m not really sure if it’s a mid tower or small form but I know it’s not a micro. I put everything in an older Dell case. The screw holes line up. I really don’t know how that white spot ended up on the picture of the socket but I looked at the socket again and it’s definitely not there. Here is the model number off of the motherboard if that helps.

            MIH81R Specs

Doesn`t tell you anymore than you have already been advised here but it does confirm what gen of CPU you need.

Have you tried asking on the Dell forums.
