PC looses Video signal if GPU is put under any stress

    Hi Everyone
So I’m kinda at my wits end.
My PC looses video signal ( the display goes black, sometimes thje screen just goes black once, other times it does it a few times in quick succession before completely going black, with the only resoution being to restart my pc) if i try to put any sort of load on the GPU, what ever was open that caused strain on my gpu also closes
does been happening with any game I play as well as when trying to test via Kombustor.

I have tried re-downloading my drivers and it hasn’t resolved the problem,
I have also tried removing my GPU and just running my display from my CPU’s display which seems to work.

is there anyway to determine what piece of hardware is going?

Sorry but you have post on a tech forum asking for help but have provided zero information about your computer or it`s hardware, this makes it impossible for anyone to even hazard a guess as to what is going on.

Is your computer a custom build or brand name such as Dell or HP, if a brand name, provide the model name or series number (not serial) if a custom build post the brand and model name or number for the CPU, MB, the RAM (including the amount) add on video card if one is used and the PSU (power supply unit) providing these details will enable folk to better help you.

After installing either OS did you correctly install the system drivers before allowing Windows to update, the correct order is chipset, Intel storage and then Intel VGA drivers, this is a must or you will get issues.

You have a good PSU so only need to suggest that you check that all cables are secure at both ends and that the Windows Power Plan is set to Balanced and not High or Ultra Performance both of which are a form of OCing that cause stability issues.

The RAM is not appropriate for your CPU, Intel state here up to 2666MHz and if you have XMP enabled the RAM will get auto OCd past what the CPU can handle and the PC fall over, this quite possibly what is happening when you put the PC under load when gaming.[/color]

I don’t remember the order I did it last, I honestly did not know it makes a difference, is there a way short of doing a complete re-install to resolve this
the PSU is semi-modular so, so ill make sure the connection on the PSU side has come loose.

Will taking of XMP resolve the current RAM incompatibility.

Because you can`t remember the driver installation order it makes sense to try the below first.

Restore the MBs default factory settings in the BIOS, they are sometimes listed as one of the following " factory defaults" “most stable” or on newer boards “optimized” please note that if you have both the “most stable” and the “optimized” options in the BIOS you should choose the most stable" option as in this instance the “optimized” settings are a form of overclocking that can cause instability.

Save the new settings, exit the BIOS, restart the computer, test by using the computer as you normally would, post back with an update once you have done this.

The above will disable the auto OCing and if the PC is stable after that it may suggest that drivers are not the issue, process of elimination etc.

                Hi
yeah we had load shedding( Planned electricity outage) i did reset the MB to defaults and made sure OC genie and XMP was off, I could run another bench mark( on Kombustor) the same issue happened but it took about 15 seconds longer before it happened.

have you checked the temperature of the card when you put it under stress?
