Desktop doesn't start - no power?

    Hi all,

I’ve got a Medion Akoya P46002 (MD 34021) which suddenly stopped working. I was using the computer this afternoon without any issues, and shut it off in a normal manner. Nothing strange to be observed. When I turned the computer back on a couple hours later it simply didn’t do anything. There are no lights, no sounds and no power at all. I tried all tips on the Medion website, changed the power cord, tested the power outlet etc. Nothing seems to work.

Because of the nature of the issue suspect the PSU could be the culprit, although the motherboard could be a possibility as well? My question is what you guys think of the issue, and what I could do to resolve it? I know it isn’t the newest PC, but it does what I need it to do and there’s quite some stuff on there that’s important to me. So fixing it, if possible, would be my goal.

What do you guys think, and what would be the best way to go from here?

Thanks a lot for any and all advice in advance!

    Hello

If you can get a spare psu ,then try that.

      Thanks for the quick reply!

I don’t have a spare PSU here at the moment, so I’ll have to pick one up. But as there’s no lights/sounds when pressing the on button it does seem like a valid starting point

if you know the power point or power board is getting power, and you have already changed the cable, the next logical point is the power supply.

swapping that with one you know works would then allow you to investigate further.

you can’t get your hands on a loaner - friend, family, neighbour, work?

Can I ask if you happen to know how to either swap or test a PSU.

Never done it before, but I’ve got experience with swapping parts and doing repairs on desktops and laptops so I’m confident I can manage this part. Testing a PSU would involve measuring voltage I presume? Sadly this is not something I cannot currently do

No voltage testing involved, you need to establish if the present PSU or smething else is bad, it could even be the case power on button.

You mention switching it on but it did nothing, what do you mean by switching it on and does the PSU have an on/off toggle switch that could have somehow been knocked into the off position.

Not around for a few hours now as have paid for work to take care of ???
