any LGA1200 socket processor should work.
make sure the BIOS is the latest to be compatible with all the latest processors.
what speed is the current i5 - 2.9GHz?
if so, make sure the new i7 it at least 8 core and 3.6GHz otherwise you probably won’t see too much improvement.

can’t see why not, although it is a generation backwards from what you currently have.
and it’s only 2.9GHz compared to your current 2.6, so not a massive jump at all.
when it says “up to 4.8” that’s with over-clocking, something your current processor could do.
but in my opinion, not a rabbit hole you want to go down.
