Pc will only boot with ram in slot 3

So I purchased some components via Newegg for a new build.

I910900k series processor
Aorus z490 ProAX (open box)
Dark rock pro 4 heat sink
850w EVGA power supply
1T Samsung evo m.2 2280
8GB evga graphics card
Corsair 16gb X2 3600 MHz

Once assembled I can only get the machine to post when installing one stick of ram into the 3rd slot. I have tried many things any suggestions. I’m thinking possible bad motherboard

Your CPU only supports 2933 memory, if it’s still within the return policy you might want to exchange it for the proper speed (with the correct speed you can enable XMP and not worry about compatibility).

As for the motherboard, does it work with either stick of ram? Try putting each stick in different slots one at a time, does each stick only work in slot 3, or is it just a single stick in any slot?

Do both sticks work?
