Corsair CX750 PSU
EVGA RTX3080 FTW3 (Latest GeForce drivers via GeForce experience)
MSI Coreliquid 240R V2 CPU Cool
CPU i5 10500 upgraded to i9 11900K (Problem started)

Hello I upgraded my 10500 to 11900K and since doing so each time I load windows within a few seconds the screen goes black and the GPU fans run down. I tried putting my display via the motherboard onboard graphics and hey presto no issues. I then tried my EVGA GPU in my other PC thinking the issue was with that but it went in no problems and running happily (Relief its not dead). I removed the Nvidia drivers and then moved my MSI RT3070 Suprim to the upgraded (i9) PC. It started and ran with no issues YAY. Then I reinstalled the GeForce drivers and immediately they were installed the same thing happened, blank screen and GPU fans running down. Have I missed something simple while upgrading to the i9? Any help most appreciated. Many thanks

Do you have anything overclocked in the UEFI/BIOS?

If so try resetting the UEFI/BIOS settings back to default.

The new CPU does draw more power aswell. With the i9 and 3080 it could be a case of not enough power, especially if the PSU is a few years old.

Update: I tried a gtx1080 I had, and it worked absolutely fine. I had Furmark running on it for 30mins with no issues at all so I can only think it must be the PSU maybe it can’t handle spikes from EVGA 3080? Anyway, I will be trying an 850W next week so will see how that goes.

Corsair make good PSUs but they should only ever be used for what Corsair recommend, the below is what they say about their CX range,
CX Series Modular power supply units are an excellent choice for basic system builds and desktop PC computer upgrades, offering high reliability, low noise, and the flexibility of modular cabling.

Your system is anything but basic so small wonder that you got issues.

Which power supply do you need?

You will note that a minimum of a Gold efficiency rated PSU is required, Corsair RM850 (2021) better value than any 750W + has a ten year warranty.

The below from a new thread the OP started regarding feedback on the above thread;

Hi, a few weeks ago I came in to seek help with an issue I was having when upgrading to 11th gen i9. Unfortunately, I did not realise I would be required to be out of circulation for a couple of weeks due to work commitments otherwise I would not even have started my PC upgrade. This meant I was unable to view or respond to the thread and to reply to those who had gone out of their way to assist me. I apologise for this and also wish to let those who are interested know that I have also sorted out the problem which was a combination of underpowered PSU (which I suspected) but also a GPU vertical riser which worked fine with RTX3080, and 10th gen i5 and RTX2060/GeForce 1080 with 11th gen i9. But the combination of riser with RTX3070 or 3080 and i9 does not work lol :unsure:. Anyway, the i9 is installed with a RTX3080 fitted horizontally and all working wonderfully now. My apologies and thanks in equal measure to those who offered help. Cheers
