Homebrew PC from years ago. Gigabyte GA-990xa-UD3 mobo with AMD FX-8350 processor and 16 GB of RAM. SSD for OS and apps. GPU is NVIDIA GeForce 1060 w/6GB. Two more HDDs for video, docs, and pics and an external 6TB backup drive. System would halt while I was editing videos for my choral group. After several weeks, I figured out that it was getting too hot. Both of the case exhaust fans were failing/failed. Tried running it with the case open, which made it better. Fans came in from Amazon, and I got them installed. Not much help. Video editor app still runs the processor temp right past 80C. I pulled the heat sink off and applied boron nitride paste. No help. Any ideas?
Overheating in spite of everything

just to state the obvious, did you also clean the fan blades and any dust buildup withing the heatsink vanes?
as well as the case and CPU fans, you also checked the fans on the GPU and PSU?
blasting the whole innards with some compressed air, either from a can or air-compressor, and holding any fans as you do it, may also help.
