"Pictures" and " Photos" Files

Hi
Hope this is in the correct place.
Since upgrading my PC I seem to have an old “pictures” File with a number of images.
I also have the “photo” file (Windows 10) with many images in date order.
I need to transfer images from my I phone to the PC. I can import to this photo file-no problem.
I cannot import to the “pictures” location., that’s fine except when I need to attach an image to a website, E-bay for example, clicking add photo or add file takes me to “pictures.” But the images I need are in “photos” ,which means I have to copy the images from photos to pictures, which is a pain when in the middle of a procedure on a website.
I hope this makes sense.
Is there a solution?
Thanks
Paul

can you show a shot of the folder structure in question?

what was upgraded, the OS, or just a Windows Update?
are you still using the same user profile account?

Thanks Bruce,
Forgive me I’m not Tech savvy!,
I replaced my old PC and all files etc were transferred to new one by the supplier, including many images in “pictures” file.
Is it possible to combine the two locations containing photos and have the “Photos” file as default when needing to upload a photo to a website? as I cannot import to the “pictures” file from camera and I phone.
Sorry don’t understand “user profile account”
Thanks.

Do you see a list on the left had side of the windows that comes up when you select Add Image?

Might look something like this.

move the files in Photos to the Picture folder.
then all your pics will be in the one location.
as to why the Photos folder is even there, I can’t say, but once you move all it’s contents to the Pictures folder. delete the Photos folder and see if it comes back.

if you can take a shot of your folder structure and attach it, that may help explain things further.
was the old PC a Mac?

Never worked with EBay so was hoping like everything else to add images.

Does it show the word Organize with a down facing triangle?

If so, then select Organize go to Layout then on the right select Navigation pane.

Like Bruce said a screen shot would be help full.

Bruce, the Photos folder came with Windows 10. If I move it’s content to pictures and delete it then I will lose the facility to import? (no way to do that to pictures.)

the Pictures folder is the default, system folder for pictures.
the Photos in the last shot is a Windows 10 app called Photos - used to view and edit pictures.
I couldn’t see a folder called Photos in any of those screen shots.

The Windows 10 app called photos is where I can import from I phone or camera, the pictures folder you say is default is where I am taken to upload an image to a website. I am trying to avoid having to move images from the photos app to pictures. I cannot import to pictures. For example I am currently needing to upload a document which I have taken a photo of with I phone and a passport style photo to an online application form. To do this I have to find them in photos app and move to pictures.
So to clarify is there a way of making the photo app the default when adding images or photos to a website?
Sorry if I haven’t made it clear.
Thanks

Whan the import is complete, and this screen come up where does it state that it saves the files in?

While in the App photos select the three vertical dots in the upper right
Select Settings
Under Source there is a button Add a Folder use that to add the missing folder
It will then be listed under Here’s a list of What Weve found so far.

The photos app is just that an app (program) used as an interface. When you use it, it stores the images in the Pictures directory which, unless you manually changed it, the default directory.

Not sure with the iPhone if it sends picture individuality and or creates a sub folder within the pictures folder.

Think you may have solved it.
I imported an image from I phone to the photos app and selected c/users pictures as a destination. Was then able to upload the image to a website.
So many thanks(y)
