    Lightning Strike

About 2 months ago there was a hellacious lightning strike near the house, house wasn’t hit but it took out my flat screen t.v… the computer was ok, ( but all the cooling fans were on high and unable to shutdown/off) then one day no picture. The red hard drive light at top of computer wasn’t flickering like it normally did, so onto YouTube and suggested fix was to replace hard drive pcb which I did, but still no picture ( or red hard drive light flickering) could it be graphics card, or hard drive motor or?..Please help, thanks…

Any information as to what kind of computer it is ?
If a brand name like Dell or Hp then make and model number + serial number
If not brand name then make and model of motherboard

I assume you mean the little drive board that sits on the HDD.
Did you desolder the required chips off the old board and replace them on the new board.
Where did you get the new pcb from.
          Was it an exact match.
Do you still have the old board.

Unplug the power supply from the wall socket
open the case and check the motherboard for blown or rasied capicitors

Just the motherboard make and model number
            Cyberpower number not needed

If no blown caps lets try a reset
                      Power off first

Ooops, sorry, yes the drive board on the hard drive. I didn’t unsolder anything, just replaced it with an exact match. Got the board from Amazon: MakerEPartsUS. The part # 2060-800039-001 was an exact match. I still have the old board.

                              Try the cmos reset first
do not forget POWER OFF before reset
                              Have a look at this
