I was having trouble with my computer a while back and I thought the issue might have been with my ram so I pulled out 2 sticks to test if the problem continued. I can’t remember what happened but I forgot to put the ram back in and I have only recently remembered about it. I tried to reintall the extra RAM but whenever I turned the computer on, it just beeped constantly at me and nothing loaded on the monitor. I had the ram sticks sitting in a box with a heap of other computer cables for about a month I think. The computer used to work with it and I was wondering if anyone knows what might of happened.
the two RAM sticks in there now are identical, which is what you want.
for the beeps to occur at startup, that would suggest the other two sticks are not compatible, which is probably why they were taken out.
I see your CPU is still the same and the BIOS hasn’t been updated since 2010.
the memory was taken out back then as we thought it was suss.
did you ever get around to getting your hands on any other sticks to try?
no worries.
we sort of can’t move forward until you can get your hands on other modules to test with.
and with the age of the PC, and the memory, getting some good, reliable ones may prove a bridge too far for the ol’ gal.
I’ll close this until you can, then feel free to PM any staff member to have it re-opened.
