    Computer Issues

Hello. My names is Dominik and i didn’t know under which tag i should post this. Lately i’ve been so desperate. My pc started crashing a lot. To the point where it just somehow messed with system and damaged something. For instance i couldn’t open settings or when i wanted to watch a video, sound wasn’t working.. So i tried to fix it.. Didn’t work and at this point i did what most people would. Factory settings.. But that didn’t work. It told me something in a way that it wasn’t able to do it. Next i tried to recover it to couple days before when it was okay.. Same thing. Wasn’t able to recover. And at this point something happened.. My computer can’t load now to Windows nor advanced options..

It just shows 2 times “Boot from cd/dvd” But it didn’t show the dots (timer) to actually boot it from cd/dvd and it also shows
“an operating system wasn’t found. try disconnecting any drives that don’t contain operating system”

Now there is the thing.. I cannot access advanced options or get into windows itself.. I just cannot get past through.. And i tried to use CDROM and USB-CDROM or use USB Flash Disk.. I tried to even switch it to Windows 8.. But nothing is working.. And i am unable to reset bios to factory settings since that option is not there.. Dunno if that would help. But can’t reset my bios nor pc

I tried many things.. And well. I basically need my pc to work again.. I use it for games after hard work.. Or i need to use it for my hobbies. I also spend a lot of time talking/writing to people.

by the sounds of it, you may be looking at a failed hard drive.

if so, options are to take it out and put it either into another PC, or into an external enclosure to try and access any data you want.

any chance you have another hard drive (just lying around) that you could whack in the PC and install Windows on to to prove that point?

I don’t well my dad has a laptop. Which i could borrow but he is taking his laptop to work and since he is a truck driver he spend days in work not coming home. So i would need to wait for him to arrive.

It doesn’t sound like failed RAM to me, the computer POSTs okay, but there’s nothing for it to boot to.

Dominik, if you are not able to source a drive from friends or family, you could also buy one from any retailer of your choice for a reasonable fee. This would allow your to keep using the computer, albeit it would be considered a “fresh” system since it would not have any of your data.

As Bruce said before, there is a chance you can recover the data by putting it in an enclosure, or plugging it into another system, but keep in mind any data on the drive could very well be lost (unfortunately).
