RAM is causing my PC to crash!

Every so often my PC freezes up and crashes! I don’t get a BSoD but my operating system just stops responding. I already replaced the memory once but that still didn’t do the trick. Do I need to buy slower and older RAM? I lowered the speed to 2933 MHz and I still get crashes. Lowering the speed makes my PC crash less frequently.

    Current memory kit -
    G.Skill Gaming Memory Ripjaws V 32GB RAM (2X16GB) DDR4 3600MHz CL18

It happens the most when I’m watching videos on Microsoft Edge or when I’m video editing. Dragging files to my video editing software causes some crashes.

Your ram is well within your MOBO’s capacity, if the problem still occurs with different sets I find it unlikely that it is a bad module.

It sounds like you turned XMP off already, but if not please ensure it is.

Are you able to use a monitoring program to watch your temps and usage when it freezes? This could be task manager (this does not show temps), MSI Afterburner, or NZXT CAM to name a few.

Do you see anything at 100% utilization when there is a freeze?

Do you see anything climb above 80C in terms of temperatures?

Posting a Speccy tells us about the important specs and relevant information of your PC).

You can find the info here on how to do so.

You want to upload it and paste the link in your reply as such:
            Code:
[B]To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:[/B]
            [ol]
[li]In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.[/li][li]In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.[/li][li]Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot dialog box. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.[/li][/ol]

The temps seem fine but I will use NZXT CAM to see if anything strange goes on there.

When you replaced the ram, did you put the new modules in slots B2 and A2?

                [ATTACH type=“full”]9414[/ATTACH]

Has anything else changed since you’ve started experiencing the freezes?

Yes, the modules are placed correctly. I turned off XMP multiple times and it doesn’t make much of a difference. When it crashes the sound cuts off and everything stops working altogether.

Do the LEDS in the corner give off any lights when you put both sticks in?

                      No, I don’t see any.

have you tried just running on one stick at a time.
and with just one stick, trying different slots?

As tedious as it is, those tasks usually yield the most information.

if I can throw in my 2 cents worth
Your motherboard can take the ram as Pyro pointed out in post # 6
Your CPU cannot take that ram
