    Nice to know! thanks
    1. The computer does seem more stable now, no freezes or crashes in the past couple of hours since I updated the chipset driver
    2. I only got the computer back about a month ago, the person who was borrowing it was playing re8 with the 580 that I took out, and I was able to play any game just fine with the 480 before I swapped them.
    3. It’s running well enough to play Minecraft at a consistent framerate which is a relief to see, and yes I did update the integrated graphics drivers while I was there

Update the audio and other drivers from that site - software for lights etc optional.
After all drivers are updated and it seems fine we will install the 480 and I will give you a link to
a driver I want you to try. It is an older driver - newer not always better.
I will post the link a bit latter (It is on another computer)

I have all of the asus drivers up to date now, I have tried one version of adrenaline from 2019 before, but that didn’t seem to work either

          I was going for a 2001 driver
But 2019 should be just as good
Does it BSOD straight away ?

No, It has never blue screened on me. I just reinstalled the graphics card and am using the 2019 adrenaline, It hasn’t frozen, and all games I tested ran well.
I’ll let my friend use it for now and if it hasn’t reverted back to a non-working state by then I’ll call it good.

also the RGB on the graphics card is changing now, where it was permanently stuck on a magenta before

I thought it was not working?
Maybe make a restore point or if you have an external drive a system image

I’m using about a terabyte of the hdd just for backups, so I’ll go ahead and do that. I don’t know why it seems to be working now, usually, I could get the games to work for a little, but the issues would start after the computer started freezing or if it got shut down, so I’m not sure if it will stay working. One thing is that the taskbar was white previously, but now it’s the transparent grey, I changed nothing about it and even used the same usb drive to install windows

so it is all working fine now -?
What driver are you using for RX480 - you said 2019 driver not working I am confused

                    Look at this - https://softwarekeep.com/help-center...-in-windows-10

I have no idea. I hope it’s fine now. The only thing I did that really should have helped is updating the chipset drivers and the other motherboard-related drivers. This isn’t the first time it all seemed fine for a while though

Make sure driver updates are turned off.

                        On the same drive ?
                        If yes bad idea
Backups should be on a different drive
                        Drive dies
                        backups die

Different drive. the SSD is for windows and some applications, and the HDD has 2 partitions, 1 terabyte for backups, which I transfer to an external hard drive, and 2 terabytes for other storage

Are you happy for me to ask @Bruce or @veeg to mark this as solved ?
You can always PM one of them to reopen it if you have more problems

Yeah. I’ll keep an eye on it, but I won’t be using it much myself. Thank you for the help
