PC BSODs before getting into windows after cpu upgrade

Recently Upgraded my cpu from ryzen 5 3400g to ryzen 5 3600, I could access the bios but can’t get into windows since it BSODS for half a second then restarts, tried clearing my CMOS and updating motherboard bios to latest but the issue still persists, the same happens when I try to boot into safe mode, any idea why?

What graphics card are you using now.

Your previous CPU had the graphics built in so there was no need for one. The new CPU does not and now you require a separate graphics card.

Did you remember to remove the plastic coating and apply the proper amount if thermal paste and remove the old?

Make sure that there are no bent pins

Thanks for replying. Yes, It’s the main reason I was upgrading to an r5 3600 because the 3400g was an APU, and since I now have an rtx 3060ti, I wanna use the ryzen 5 3600, other things I’ve read were that I need to reinstall windows, but I first sent the 3600 back to where I bought it from cause I thought it was faulty, it wasn’t, It ran normally on an a320 mobo, which is older than my current mobo, and they did so without reinstalling windows, so I’m really confused.

P.S. The pc didn’t even leave any dump file for me to at least try to pinpoint the problem, I’ve tried reseating the cpu, RAM and clearing CMOS, nothing fixed my issue so far, is the only solution to reinstall Windows?

since you sent the CPU back do you have a replacement?

Can you access the system at all even to get into Safe Mode?

Can you access the system at all if so, can you create a different user and see if logging into that one if the issue still happens?

The store tested the 3600 and it ran normally, so they’ll send it back to me and I’m still waiting for it. I’m gonna post the results back here once I’ve tested it again in my system. But back when I first got it, I also can’t boot into safe mode since everytime it tries, it BSODs then automatically restarts into a blank display. I also noted that the Fans on the CPU cooler Speed Up and Slow down randomly. For now am still using the ryzen 5 3400g with the gpu while waiting for the 3600.

When you get the CPU back, we can properly diagnose the issue and follow the information in post #5.

btw, I can’t access safe mode for the pc too, I mean I can only access the bios but for some reason I can’t get into windows, it just bsods for half a sec then restarts, same goes for safe mode.

Glad to hear that a fresh install fixed the issue and that everything is working properly.

                      Happy Computing
