Upgrading from 2 sticks to 4 sticks of RAM will result in the computer not booting.

Hello,

I come to you with an issue with my build, everything runs smoothly but I wanted to extand my ram from 16GB to 32GB as I have another two sticks of RAM left behind from when I first built my computer. (There was some issue with my CPU at the time so I didn’t really focus on the RAM)

Now that everything runs I want to put my two last stick of RAMs from the 4x8GB DDR4 2666MHz 1.2V Corsair Vengeance LPX, but whenever I try to add the two last sticks my computer will not boot and a yellow light willl come on on the mobo. And if I go back back to 2 sticks the coputer will work again.
• updated the bios
• updated the drivers
• ran memtest86

And I am kind of stuck at this point, so I would be glad if anybody has ideas on how I could troubleshoot this.

Thanks for your answers and I will try to update as soon as I can if you need more info.

Hello Hurrent,

Have you tried taking the two original sticks out and putting the other two sticks in the exact same two slots.

Hello Phill,

i did try to mix them up, (working ram + spare ram, only spare ram) and everything works fine when there is only 2 ram in the system, it’s whenever I try to go to 4 sticks at a time that I get an issue.
thanks for your reply.
have a nice evening.

Hello Hurrent,

Can you insert the two new sticks in the slots that the original two were populating, reassemble the computer, run Speccy and post the url for us, see steps below;

Post the brand and model name or number of the power supply (PSU).

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

You are welcome btw
