pc beeping and won't turn on sometimes

    Hello,
I have a problem, sometimes when I turn on my pc it starts beeping and restarting everytime.
it doesnt happen always but when it does i need to take out the ram and put it back on a different slot and then it works.
so my question is why does it happen? I thought maybe the ram was not good so I bought new ram but it still happens.
it is doing about 5 beeps i dont actually remember.

    Hello again Aiden167,

Are you overclocking any of your hardware.

Please provide information about your computer, is it a custom build or brand name such as Dell or HP, if a brand name, provide the model name or series number (not serial) if a custom build post the brand and model name or number for the CPU, MB, the RAM (including the amount) add on video card if one is used and the PSU (power supply unit) providing these details will enable folk to better assist you.

Your CPU does not support this RAM, Intel Core i7 3770K specs here say 1333 or 1600MHz max.

Your Intel DZ77GA-70K MB secs here does support up to 2400MHz but only as long as the CPU in the MB can handle it, your CPU can`t.

Modern RAM has two speeds, SPD (serial presence detect) and XMP, SPD is what the BIOS detects on boot which is most often 2133MHz and XMP which when enabled will set the RAM to run at the maximum speed that it is capable of, your SPD cannot exceed 1600MHz on boot else the power on self test will fail.

Just a btw, one stick will work on its own because it is only in single channel which with true 2400MHz RAM would mean 1200MHz which would not cause a problem for the MB.

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

Well, didnt know that, but the thing is I had a 1866Mhz before and it still did that problem, and even before that I had a motherboard board gigabyte h77-ds3h and never had a problem with the previous ram (the 1866Mhz) and had a i5 3570. never had a problem with the pc at that time.

now tho I thought I will upgrade the ram and I did changed the bios to XMP and it does work, speccy shows that I have 1200Mhz. but didnt understand why would it damage the cpu?
and why would this motherboard have this feature if 3 gen cpu doesnt support that ram speed?
i’m sorry but I didnt quite understand that here is the speccy results:

Sorry but we are dealing with your present hardware and mustn`t get side-tracked with what has gone on with other hardware in the past.

            Nope, Speccy shows that your RAM is working in dual channel;

            RAM
            ‏‏‎16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 1197MHz Two Xs 1197MHz = 2394MHz.

Something that you will need to take up with Intel, they made the MB and it`s BIOS, we can only answer your questions and were possible post links to support what people are being advised, your MB does not support any CPU that can handle 2400MHz RAM at stock CPU settings, see Intel info here

Your Kingston RAM has an SPD speed of 1333MHz which is fine for both the BIOS and the CPU, XMP is no good for either unless you OC the CPU as well so that it can handle the faster RAM.

I don`t OC and likewise do not help with OCing other than to try fixing things for people when they break something when OCing.

Try restoring the MBs default factory settings in the BIOS, they are sometimes listed as one of the following " factory defaults" “most stable” or on newer boards “optimized” please note that if you have both the “most stable” and the “optimized” options in the BIOS you should choose the most stable" option as in this instance the “optimized” settings are a form of overclocking that can cause instability.

Do the above, shutdown the computer, disconnect the power cord from the wall, press the chassis power on button for twenty or so seconds to get rid of any charge in the system, reassemble, power up to see how things go then run Speccy and post the new url for us.

RAM is now running at 1600MHz.

Did the PC boot up first time.

Yeah, everything was normal. I hope that it wont beep anymore.
just to be sure that I understand, is there any ddr3 gen proccesor that can work with 2400/2133 speed?

Your CPU is capable of working with 2400MHz RAM but you would need to overclock the CPU.

There is no CPU that is compatible with your MB that can run any faster than 1600MHz unless you overclock both the CPU and RAM.

Last but not least, you do not change a CPU so that you can use RAM that you already have and especially old tech like DDR3, it simply isn’t cost effective.
