I cant find my pics on my hard drive..

For years I have organized and stored pics on my hard drive. I have over 10,000 pics in jpg form. I had them in a folder in Documents.

Earlier this year, the folder that held all of these pics is suddenly missing. I can’t find the folder that holds them. I did a search of the C drive for *.jpeg. The only files I found are those in C:/Users/Admistrator/Pictures (it’s only a few hundred). But these pics are not lost.

Yes some are in iCloud, but many were taken before iCloud was invented.

I have done some searching for a solution. One suggestion was to run a free program called disk-drill-win. I did but it did not discover the missing jpg’s.

Although I’m sure I did not delete them, I did check my recycle folder.

They MUST be on my hard drive. What do I do to find them? Thx in advance! : )

do you have any idea on how many GB’s the drive did have spare, compared to now that all those pictures are gone?

if you knew and are now seeing no change in the amount of used or free space then maybe they really are still there somewhere. but if you are seeing a sudden change in the used or free space then they have been deleted and the more you use the drive, the less your chances of recovery will be - if it isn’t already too late.

I’m assuming you have no backups!

have you looked under the c:\Users folder and looked in all the folders for each account every used to log onto that PC?

if still no luck, try Recuva by Piriform, but the recovery chance will be slim and at best may only find the fragments and be unable to ‘stitch’ them back together into a file that isn’t flagged as corrupted when you try to open it.

Are you positive that they are all the extension and not png, jpg, gif or any other?

Did you preform any type of operating system reinstall?

Just another reason to create backup of personal data.
