Hi, I’m looking to upgrade my PC so that I can run more things on it at once. I’ve been told that’s what CPU or RAM does. idk I bought this homemade PC last January and I want to upgrade it but I don’t know how or what pieces go with what I already have.
Could anyone show me the options I have that would go with my current motherboard?
This is what I’m working with currently except 16gb of RAM, not 8gb.

Update: according to Task Manager, it’s the CPU that I need to upgrade, not the RAM. I looked it up and my motherboard has a 1150 socket and can support i7 as max support. Which CPU is best for its price? Thank you.
1150 socket CPU’s would be hard to come by now, that socket was superseded.
in fact, I think the 4th gen range was the last one they did for the 1150’s.
you may end up having to get as new motherboard as well. and that in turn will force the memory to be DDR4.
and your PSU is inadequate for that GPU.
your 4th gen Intel Core processor is 8 years old.
and ignoring all that, going from a 4th gen to whatever the highest gen is for the 1150 chip ends up being, will add a few more threads and cores, maybe a slight clock speed increase but whether you’d notice any speed improvement would be doubtful.
you already have a SSD which is the best performance boost you can give any PC.
overall you are trying to run current era software on old era hardware.
and the gap is only increasing.
there comes a time when the old girl needs to be retired to lesser, mundane duties like NAS server, Home theater, CCTV recorder, or kids gaming unit and the money better spent on a replacement.
