I recently got a ryzen 9 5900x (upgraded from ryzen 5 3600x) for my msi x 570 a pro motherboard. I updated the bios to the latest version per the msi official website (7C37vHD). How ever when I installed the 5000 series processor it only loaded into the bios menu and when I tried to load into windows and puts me right back into the bios. I took the ryzen 5000 series processor out and installed the 3000 series processor and it loaded into windows just fine. both times the bios recognized the correct processor so I am really confused, did I get the wrong bios update?

Originally posted by phillpower2Don`t think so because if you check the BIOS update list here there is no mention of needing any BIOS update before any newer CPU will work, this suggests that your Ryzen 9 5900x would have been ok with your previous revision of BIOS, the MBs Overview info also says Supports AMD Ryzen™ 5000 Series which again suggests that no BIOS upgrade was required for your 5000 series CPU.
You being put back into the BIOS as opposed to Windows crashing suggests that this is a hardware issue so you may be best to contact AMD support as the new CPU is the one thing that causes the system to fall over.Comment

In answer to your question no so if you have made sure that you have the latest chipset drivers for the MB your only option is to contact AMD I`m afraid.Comment
