Black screen and corrupted sound whenever I play a game.

Hello. I have a random issue which I cannot deal with, preclusively thanks for help. Well, whenever I play a game if the game requires some system resources - I get a black screen, the first 10-15 seconds after the black screen I can hear sounds, after - I cannot. Also, I can play games only if I start them in the lowest graphics or if games themselves are not
demanding. I’ve tried reinstalling my OS, drivers etc. Nothing helps. Once the issue was gone, and I could play different pretty modern games like Horizon, Battlefield etc with high-quality without any crashes, but now the issue has returned. Every time when a game requires some resources(save, downloading etc) - I get this black screen. I’ve checked temperatures and all is pretty fine, the configuration itself is not old at all, I haven’t mined, the system is not overclocked, just a regular PC. My system is : GPU- Asus GeForce gtx 980 (4gb)
    CPU - quadcore intel core i7-4790k, 4400mhz
    Motherboard - ASUS Z97-P
    RAM - Kingston HyperX KHX1866C10D3/8G (8gb , 933-1866 mhz) 2 modules.
Power supply - aerocool KCAS 600W
SSD - Kingston A400 (120gb) (OS is installed there)
    HDD - WDC WD5000AZRX (500gb)
    Thanks again.

The behaviour that you describe suggests a power issue and being that the PSU you have is of real poor quality and not powerful enough for your GPU your GPU may have been damaged by using a sub standard and underpowered power supply.

Even the 800/1000W version of your PSU only make it onto the Tier D • Recommended only for very cheap, iGPU systems here which tells you just how bad they are, yours even when new could only produce 540W which is also questionable, your GPU requires a true 600W or above PSU from a proven brand such as Corsair, EVGA or Seasonic, Bronze minimum being that it is an old GPU.

So the problem lies in PSU, okay. Thanks a lot for help, I’ll change it! But still, why did it work okay sometimes? Thanks for help again!

Before purchasing any new parts we always recommend that you get the system tested by a local tech or if a power issue you see if you can borrow an appropriate PSU to swap in for testing purposes.

The problem with using an underpowered PSU is that it may work for a while but all the time that the PC is in use the hardware is being damaged by power starvation, an add on GPU being the most power hungry tends to suffer first and the most and that is why the ideal thing for you to do would be try and swap in a known good PSU with the appropriate power output and efficiency, this is the only way of checking to see if your GPU has been damaged.
