    I have bookmarked your "Clean Boot " link and will either attempt to do it myself, or else get a friend to do it for me. In the meantime I’ve restricted myself to using a single memory stick on the laptop and no other. If it starts screwing up, then that’s all the proof I need that the USB safe removal procedure is at fault, after all, while keeping the damage down to a minimum.

      If you have another user to see if the same thing happens if not create a second user and see if the same thing happen.
