Very Frustrating Problem with Random Freeze/Restarts

This has been months of dealing with this and I’ve had enough. I’ve narrowed it down to either a problem with Win10 or mobo.

I updated my Asrock BIOS to the most recent version (that my CPU/chipset supports). I chose the BIOS update that was specifically mentioned for Summit Ridge.

Boom…suddenly, sporadically, my PC freezes then restarts. Sometimes it DOESN’T post or load Windows, but the fans still keep running and lights inside my case are still on.

It seems to crash the most often when I have my browser open for some reason. Yes, it crashes during games, but it crashes far more frequently when I’m on my browser. However, it CAN freeze/restart when I’m simply on my desktop and I just move my mouse. It’s so frustrating because its so random. It doesn’t matter if I’m putting a load on to my PC or not, playing games or browsing the internet or simply moving my damn mouse.

Just now, it crashed 6 times in 15 minutes while doing things in Chrome. However, I played 3 games just before in League without issue. Sometimes I can go 6 hours, sometimes I can go 2 minutes. EDIT - It froze/restarted while typing this post!

A google search reveals that owners of my ASRock board and Ryzen cpu’s have issues with this. But…is this really a Win10 issue?

Please help me! I can’t get any work done with random and frequent crashes.

    Steps I’ve Taken So Far

    [ul]
[li]I have no visible damage to system components. I’ve reseated everything.[/li][li]MemTest had no errors after passes[/li][li]I’ve tested individual memory modules, no change. Bought new memory, no change.[/li][li]I purchased a new PSU, works great, no change in problem[/li][li]I bought a different graphics card, works great, but no change in problem.[/li][li]I’ve monitored temperatures for CPU, Memory, and GPU and nothing was out of the ordinary.[/li][li]Drivers, BIOS, Windows 10 all updated[/li][/ul]
The only thing I can think of is ASRock had “bad” BIOS update for my Ryzen CPU (considering others have this issue) or a Win10 issue.

It was marked as resolved back in April, with the remote server-side update. So, since I’m still having daily/hourly freezes and restarts, it doesn’t seem to have been related to my issue. But thank you for sharing.

My guess is bad bios. Did you get your bios update from here Click On Me - The dates are different.
Option 1) to test if windows 10 is a problem download and run a live Linux usb - Ubuntu should do Click On Me NO INSTALL NEEDED RUN FROM USB STICK.
Option 2) Clean boot windows 10 Click On Me
Option 3 ) Make a system image and wipe hard drive - you loose all programs. Format HDD and reinstall

Can you Download and run and then post. Speccy - Free Download

@veeg Yes I did replace the PSU, bought a brand new EVGA psu.
@PeterOz That’s very strange…yes I did get my BIOS update from that. Version 5.8 WAS dated 6/19/19 but…is now on their site dated 7/3/19?

Temps Idle (when crashes mostly happen) - 35-40c

I did find something from Google hunting that gave me a clue. I have MUCH higher chances of a freeze and restart when my browser is open. From a Google search, I’m trying a suggestion to turn off Hardware Acceleration and Run Applications even While Browser Closed. In the last few hours, I havent had a crash. We’ll see what the future holds.

I’ll try the aforementioned suggestion of a clean boot as well. I’m a little intimidated about using Linux usb Ubuntu. I’ll look into though.

              Thank you for your time

You do not have to install linux it runs straight from the USB no install to HDD.
But see what happens with the above first.
Only if no good think I reflash with new date? only as last option

Also do you need java? go to control panel programs and uninstall all java can be 32 and 64 bit.
                Can reinstall later if needed
