Advice for my next pc build

    Hello folks,

I was thinking about replacing my old i5 3470 desktop which I use for web development and light gaming (Battlefield 1 and Battlefield V multiplayer and thats it) with a new build. I went to the shop’s site and the first list is the parts I’ve picked myself after reading the description (Bear with me I’m just a software guy; don’t know much about hardware, but the description said they are compatible so went with it). After contacting the shop the shop said the second build (second list) is more performant than my parts.

MY INITIAL BUILD (UNDER MY BUDGET)
    [ul]
    [li]Intel® Core™ i7-10700F[/li][li]ASUS PRIME H510M-E (MOBO)[/li][li]T-CREATE CLASSIC 10L 16GB (2 x 8GB) 3200Mhz[/li][li]Seagate BarraCuda 2TB ST2000DM005 (HDD)[/li][li]Antec VP550 PLUS 550W 80+ (Power Supply)[/li][li]GAMDIAS BOREAS M1-610 (Cooler)[/li][li]WD Green 120GB M.2 SSD[/li][/ul]
BUILD RECOMMENDED BY MY SHOP (BIT ABOVE BUDGET)
    [ul]
    [li]INTEL CORE I5- 10400F[/li][li]ANTEC NEPTUNE 120 RGB (Liquid Cooler)[/li][li]MSI B460M BAZOOKA (MOBO)[/li][li]2 X PATRIOT SPrem 8GB 3200Mhz[/li][li]CORSAIR CV550 80+BRONZE[/li][li]ADDLINK S20 SATA 256GB[/li][li]WD BLUE 2.0TB[/li][/ul]
I really want some advice on how I can improve this situation, which one to go or maybe a change to a completely different part/parts. (I have a GPU; from the old build which I’m gonna transfer to a new build ). Sorry for saying “mid range” this could be low end af but I really don’t know.

    Thank you!

    I am NO expert
You both have 3200Mhz ram - Neither CPU can use that speed.
You need to up the 120GB M.2 at least 480-500GB
How old is your power supply - trying to use an old power supply is not worth it.
Read through the post here and you will be surprised at how many problems relate to power.

Does your board support the memory ? check the part number here Click On Me
My own opinion why waste money on a cooler that has lights

What is the GPU ? Helps decide on the power supply.
Neither of you are putting the computer in a case. Wall mounting? then the cooler with lights make sense Click On Me
Wait and see what others here have to say

      Cheers

flip a coin, both are decent, average PC’s capable of replacing your current rig with the job you currently perform.
so you could argue - why even bother?

I think both could be improved, all depends on your budget and if in the gaming side of things you see yourself delving deeper in that area.
